Clacton-on-Sea and the places around it

Clacton is where we're based. Within a few miles you'll find Victorian terraces, post-war estates, interwar houses and seaside chalets, and each of them changes how a job is done.

Clacton-on-Sea

Clacton was a Victorian project. The engineer Peter Bruff bought the land in 1864, built the pier in 1871, and the town grew quickly once the railway arrived in 1882. The old centre around Church Road, Rosemary Road and Marine Parade is now mostly a grid of terraced streets. North of it, Great Clacton, Rush Green and Bocking's Elm are largely post-war housing, around Great Clacton's much older church.

For us, that means two quite different kinds of job. Terraces have front gutters over the pavement, small back gardens and tight parking. The estates have side access, drives, extensions and bigger lawns.

Holland-on-Sea

Holland-on-Sea grew mostly between the wars, with more building after 1945. It's largely interwar houses and bungalows, so gutters are lower, drives and paths are common, and gardens often run all round the house.

Jaywick

Jaywick was laid out from 1929 as a holiday village, and the streets of its Brooklands estate were planned in the shape of a Bentley car's radiator grille. Many of the older chalets and bungalows are lightweight buildings, so we use gentle methods and don't lean ladders on gutters or cladding that weren't built to carry the weight.

St Osyth and Point Clear

Point Clear began in the 1930s as seaside plots, and many of its buildings are still lightweight bungalows and chalets, with holiday homes nearby at Seawick. If you're not here all year, we can cut the garden back, clear the gutters or wash down the outside at the start or end of the season.

What we do here

Questions

Do you charge extra to come out within Clacton?

No. We're based here, so there's no travel charge within Clacton.

Can you do more than one job on the same visit?

Yes, and it's often the sensible way: gutters and windows together, or a garden tidy and a wardrobe built between tenants.

Do you work on holiday parks and chalet estates?

Yes, for owners who need gutters, windows or gardens done. On a managed park, check its rules for outside contractors before booking.
