Gutter cleaning in Frinton-on-Sea and Kirby Cross
Most of Frinton was built in the Edwardian era, after the railway station opened, and it was built more spaciously than Clacton or Walton. The houses are bigger, and size is the main thing that changes a gutter job here.
Larger houses near the seafront
Towards the sea are large detached houses from the early 1900s, some in the Arts and Crafts style, with long gutter runs, several roof slopes, bay windows, porches and dormers. On houses like these, we walk round with you first and agree exactly which runs are included: main roof, bays, porches, garage. A clear list at the start means no surprises in the price.
The 1930s modern houses
The Frinton Park Estate has a group of Modern Movement houses, several of them listed. Houses built in that style usually have flat roofs, drained through outlets and hoppers rather than an ordinary gutter. We'll look at how yours drains before we quote. If the problem turns out to be the roof covering rather than a blockage, we'll say so.
Listed buildings and the conservation area
Parts of Frinton are in a conservation area, and the older buildings include listed houses in the town and in Kirby Cross. Clearing a gutter doesn't change how a building looks, but if yours is listed, tell us. Old cast-iron gutters and their brackets can be brittle, so we don't lean ladders on them, and we won't replace or alter anything.
Kirby Cross and north Frinton
Between Kirby Cross and Frinton is a large area of mostly post-war housing, where gutter clears are more straightforward and usually quicker.
Price
Our guide starts from £70 for a whole property. To be straight with you, many of the larger seafront houses will cost well above that, because of the length of gutter and the number of roof slopes. The post-war houses towards Kirby Cross are nearer the start. For a big or unusual house we'd rather come and look, and the look is free.

Questions
My house has a flat roof. Do you clear those?
We clear the outlets, hoppers and any gutters on flat roofs we can reach safely. If the roof covering itself is the problem, we'll tell you rather than guess.
What time of year should I have them cleared in Frinton?
With so many mature trees and hedges around the gardens here, late autumn, once the leaves are down, catches most of it. A spring check clears what the winter brings.
Can you do the gutters and the garden on the same visit?
Yes. An autumn gutter clear and a hedge cut go well together, and we'll price them as one visit.
